The Good:
Overall, this is an excellent rail system. Typical of Troy Industries, the quality is second to none on both the machining as well as the anodizing. The new Alpha Rail's mounting system stands head and shoulders above the old TRX rail - there is no proprietary barrel nut, a standard M4 nut is all that is needed - and the rail mounts very securely via three screws positioned at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. There is an anti-rotation tab that is used to index the rail on the left side of the upper receiver. Add some blue loctite to the mounting screws and you're good to go.
The rail system comes with three sections of anodized aluminum picatinny rail (two short and one long), with very high quality hardware for each one along with a threaded backing plate. A very all-inclusive setup
The bad:
The rail is super thin profile. This makes for a excellent grip if you use your non-dominant hand way up near the front sight for the "c-clamp" style grip, however, it requires the use of a low profile gas block. Not a big deal, but a ran into an issue with my particular setup. For reference, I'm running a BMC 14.5" mid-length barrel, with a BCM low profile gas block. I chose the 13" rail to cover the gas block and give me added real estate up front for the c-clamp grip.
I typically run either a short VFG or a Magpul Hand Stop way up front on my guns, but on this setup I found that with the picatinny rail mounted on the bottom of the free float tube in the forward-most position, the backing plate for the rail butts up against the gas block. There aren't a whole lot of gas blocks that are more "low profile" than the BCM, so I think I'm just going to shave a little material off of the backing plate in the area of interference and call it a day. The plate is plenty thick so I don't think that this will affect the strength of the part. Time will tell.
Overall, I'm still giving the product a 5-star rating because Troy has no way of knowing what setup you use. The parts themselves are outstanding, and Predator Armament has THE BEST price I could find anywhere, hands down. Get this thing - you won't regret it.

The rail came very quickly after being ordered and processed.Packaged very nicely with no damage to the box or rails. Amazing communication from Predator Armament throughout this whole process. I will definitely look back to order more parts from Predator Armament in the future.

For those of you that operate with the minimal necessities and like the Troy TRX Extreme and smaller rail systems, this item is execellent. Holds up under extremme usage and conditions. It is easier to install than the TRX.If VTAC/Kyle Lamb puts his name on it, you know it rocks.
